Lab Tech Program

2026 Intern Application

Intern applications for our 2026–2027 season. An educational program for aspiring professional dancers, teachers, and choreographers.

You will receive training in how to teach, choreograph, improvise, prepare for auditions, build lesson plans, and understand the anatomy and physiology of the dancer's body. As a perk, interns may use the facility for their own training at no cost, depending on availability.

Scholarship Awarded

We offer a $100 scholarship to a summer intensive of your choice at the end of the internship in summer 2027. It is awarded to 1 Lab Tech and 1 Junior Lab Tech intern who exhibit everything we believe an intern should through character, consistency, and effort — more than the required hours, a good attitude, consistent class-taking, and helping improve studio culture.

Expectations

  • You are the face of Body Lab. You were hand-chosen for that reason. Stay professional in class, while interning, and outside the studio, with a positive helping-others attitude.
  • Attend 4+ hours of class each week. Your own training comes first. You should take more classes than you intern, and assist the classes you are signed up for.
  • Assist and teach only styles you are proficient in at the Advanced level. Take Advanced classes consistently before interning Beg/Intermediate. Final call is Mrs. Heather / Miss Kennedy.
  • Weekly classes, master classes, camps, shows, choreography, parties, and auditions — if you are proficient, you will be asked to help.
  • When you are in the room, go full out, demonstrate, stay engaged, give corrections only when it is your job, and skip the side conversations.
  • Subbing is paid; assisting is not. $20/hour teaching and $15/hour co-teaching when the teacher is not present, via Zelle, with a W-9 on file. If compensation is $600+ you will receive a 1099.
  • Front desk (usually summer) is $18/hour via Venmo/Zelle, no phones, and the same class-attendance requirement. You are the first face people see.

Hour Requirements

  • Summer 2026: 1 intensive & 2 total classes (not ones you would attend)
  • Fall 2026: 5 classes & 1 Body Lab event
  • Spring 2027: 5 classes & 1 Body Lab event

Turn all intern hours in to Mrs. Heather, Ms. Kennedy, and Ms. Sarah-Beth.
